Laughlin-Sutton Construction Company was established in 1958 by Curtis L. Laughlin and Albert D. Sutton as a general contracting firm serving clients in the Carolinas and Virginia. Our expertise covers a wide range of nonresidential specialties, including industrial, commercial, utilities, systems buildings and heavy construction projects.

Laughlin-Sutton Construction Company is owned by a group of our managers and field superintendents. Most were trained by our founders, who instilled in these employee/stockholders their high standards of competence, ethics and performance. Their hands-on leadership assures the company’s ongoing strength and success.

Laughlin-Sutton’s administrative and clerical staff is structured to provide our clients with optimum service. Each client works with a management team member who is both an estimator and project manager, insuring continuity, accountability and simplified communications. Most of out management are degreed in civil engineering or related fields; all are well-versed in the latest construction techniques. We also utilize the latest in computerized estimating, scheduling and cost-control systems.

Our field superintendents are highly experienced builders, with an average of over twenty years in the industry. They are supported by our “core” group of field employees, including carpenters, concrete masons, equipment operators and steel erectors. Laughlin-Sutton’s employee turnover rate is quite low, assuring our continued high-performance field operations.

Over the years, Laughlin-Sutton has developed a fleet of construction equipment, trucks, tools, and concrete forming systems, which we maintain in-house. This inventory allows us to self-perform many critical elements of out projects, which expedites scheduling, assures tighter quality control, maintains out competitive edge and helps us handle our clients’ emergency needs.
